Poll- What kind of flute do you have?
I didn''t see a post like this
anywhere and with all the talk about what flutes are good, etc. etc. etc., I
thought I''d ask [:)] Soo... what kind of flute do you play? To answer my own
question, I have a Yamaha Allegro... I just looked on it to see the name of the
model but my eyes aren''t being kind (I have very bad vision) and no one''s
home to ask, LOL. It''s solid silver with a gold-plated **embouchure**(spelled
to everyone''s satisfaction?) piece and open-holed keys, offset G, and B-foot.
I got it for Christmas []. (I was previously playing on a
student-model Yamaha). I love my flute so much, LOL. I suppose that''s good,
considering what my parents paid, heh. So, your turn!

Poll- What kind of flute do you have?
I play on a student model Yamaha
and my daughter currently has a Gemeinhardt M3 but this weekend we should be
purchasing a new flute. She is looking at 3 different Yamaha's, the Miyazawa
201 and Muramatsu EXB. She tried the Allegro that you have and liked it but
still hasn't decided. Kim

Poll- What kind of flute do you have?
I have a Geimeinhardt (sp?) 2sp.
It's closed hole, C foot and silver plated. I have another flute, but I don't
play it often. It's used as a back up when my usual flute is broken and getting
fixed.

So far everyone is playing a
student or student step up flute, at least until flute mommas daughter gets her
high priced spread.

I play a silver Nagahara 950
flute with an offset G, C# trill key, B foot, and an extended gold lip riser.
And I love it! [:)] I got my flute my freshman year of college and I will have
had it for three years this coming April. Many of you have probably heard my
ravings over my flute and if any of you ever consider making a career in music
or looking for a professional level instrument I recommend these flutes highly.
(And no, I'm not one of their sales people nor do I get a commissionn [:)])

Courtney~ I had checked out the
Nagahara website after you posted another time about your flute. It sounds like
they put a lot of time and care into building their flutes. I read that they
actually make their pads by hand right before they are put into the flute unlike
other company's that put them in from a pre-made stock. Kim

Don't worry so much about the
cost of your flute. I played an inexpensive, student flute for many, many years
and it served me quite well. I still believe that the most important thing in
determining how well you play is...YOU! So work with the one have, practice a
lot, and it will likely give back to you in spades. As an adult, when I realized
my old student flute needed a major overhaul, I decided to replace it and bought
a better quality one. I was in the fortunate position of being able to afford
something a little more expensive and decided to treat myself. When the time
comes and if you're able to, try a more expensive one...there are definitely
some benefits. But in the meantime, enjoy the one you have. It's about having
fun and making beautiful music after all, not how fancy/expenseive a flute
you've got.
