You know, there are WAY more options in your price range. I have my favorite out of the three, but that does not help you any. You have to play on it.

Story....
For years I have been using an Armstrong 210. Why did I choose this in the first place?
1. I did not play piccolo that much at the time.
2. The head joint had a lip plate. This made it a little easier to adapt to for me.
3. It sounded great for a Silver plated body with a Solid Silver headjoint for me.
4. It was low maintenance for me.
5. The price was right. $700.00 USD New for me.

FOR ME!

Is it the perfect piccolo, no. I have played in sections that have frowned on my choice, but my section mates were shocked about how good it sounded. It is not the all star stellar piccolo, but it serves my needs quite nicely. Not to mention, I have made for than a few dollars with it as well. Will be coming out with some new recorded material using it as well.

The moral of the story is you have to pick what is right for you. It is not about how much it costs, or what it is made of. Choosing an instrument is kind of like a marriage. Just like no one can pick a husband/wife for you, it would be hard for someone to make a suggestion on which piccolo to buy as well. Go some place where you can, and just play on it.

Out of the 3, I like the Pearl the best. Any of them will be good from a quality standpoint.

Peace

Phineas

I do agree with Phineas that the Pearl is my favorite of those three (and in that price range personally), but there are many MANY more options out there. I would do some more digging around online to learn about different makers before sinking any money into a new piccolo.

I'm going to try out the Seaman and the Pearl 105 on Saturday. I will let you know what I think.

Let us know what you decide.
