How to test a flute

I am going to buy a brand new flute soon. Having zoomed down
to only one model, how does one go about testing its built and tone quality?

Another good piece of advice to heed while testing
any instrument is to BRING A TUNER. This way, you can find out if there are any
really bad notes on the instrument and if the instrument itself is tuned
properly.
