Artley Flute

Post by Flora »

I have an Artley flute which I bought in the late 1950's, '58 or '59, as a third grade student just entering the musical world. It is stamped Elkhart, Ind. and has the number 75740 engraved on it. These are the only markings I can see. I have read several articles on this forum and elsewhere regarding dating this flute via these numbers, but I can't seem to come up with anything in the articles that are close to the numbers on mine. Can anyone clarify this number system for me?

Many thanks
