is it posible to play guitar like music on the flute? I was wondering because a guy can play the starwars theme song on the altosax. and also is there somewhere I can find normal music (like greenday, linkin park, limpbizkit, the drowning pool, blink 182 ...) for the flute?
"Normal" music? Well, ballerinas don't usually dance to Britney Spears, if ya know what I mean, but if you're looking for movie themes, pop tunes, etc., visit the Hal Leonard website (www.halleonard.com) or their local sheet music retailer to peruse their instrumental catalog. They publish dozens of collections of popular music for all band and orchestra instruments, and a lot of these come with play-along CDs, too. Usually, the piano accompaniment books are sold separately, if you ever want to play these in public. You can't order directly from the website, but most music stores that handle sheet music from Hal Leonard (this is almost any sheet music retailer, because Hal Leonard has bought EVERYBODY!!) can order any of the titles for you. (This is what I do at my job ) You can then search for the titles on sites like www.sheetmusic.com, as well.

There is also a great place in the UK--the website:
http://www.musicroom.com/Default.aspx
that has some music I haven't been able to find here in the US.
I just got received the "Guest Spot: 20 great jazz hits" for flute. Great selection of songs. It comes with two CDs one to hear how the music is suppose to sound and a second with the background music so you can play the flute part. It is level 3 out of 5 for difficulty so is within the reach of many neophytes like myself. Some songs will challenge even really good players but most are just really fun--- if you like jazz. I couldn't find that book anywhere in the US but maybe I didn't look in the right place No problem with them sending stuff to the US. Europe/UK probably have things we can't get here so it is worth exploring. The website also allows to to play small segments of the songs so you can hear what they sound like.

Green Day? Linkin Park? I am glad you asked: for both of these bands, plus a few other artists go to:

Thanks you guys! It is always nice to hear positive feedback. This site is now about 6 years old. I started it back in high school with a few jokes and a fingering chart. Now it has branched out to so much more.
About the Green Day song, it is "Brain Stew", although I have not heard Jaded.
If you guys have any suggestions, or things you would like to see added, send me an e-mail: jess@fluteinfo.com
