New member saying Hi

Hi my name's Larry from north east England, and I'm just learning to play the boehm flute. I was given one last year in exchange for an ocarina I had (ridiculously hard to play, and it hurt my ears).
The flute is a Fortissimo beginner flute that was a Facebook friend's spare flute. It had a stuck Eb key which I managed to fix myself.
I'm just starting out and am at the stage where I'm just practicing playing the first 3 notes (B, A and G), playing long notes to get a clean sound with my embouchure. I find I can get some of the lower notes but when I get to the bottom notes I just get air-I'm sure I'll get there in the end. As well as string instruments I also play recorder, clarinet and tin whistle so I have some experience with woodwind.
I signed up to Rebecca Fuller's youtube lessons and I look forward to improving my playing and seeing other's posts

Like most online forums, it seems to go in spurts. The scooter forum I also frequent is the same way. There'll be mad amounts of posts for a while, then it'll be few and far-between for a while. I just figure folks get busy real-world. Happens to me--real world fills my time, and online doesn't see much of me 'til things settle back down.

Meanwhile, welcome! Have fun learning your flute.

Re: your recorders--what do you have? I now own a couple of sopranos, a couple of altos, a Yami tenor (my fave!), and two Angel basses which my machinist friend is fabricating a bocals for one from the other, and mouthpieces for each (one came with neither part, the other is missing the mouthpiece). Say--do you know who might have either part for sale?

I have 2, an Aulos 303 soprano, and a Yamaha YRA312biii Alto that I was given by an internet friend.
