Getting Flute Repadded

Post by LaDanseuse »

Does anyone here live around the Washington DC area and know of a good place to get a flute repadded? There are a lot of Music and Arts stores around here, but I've been warned not to go to them....

I've heard that you're supposed to change pads every other month. Is this true? I've been playing my current instrument for two years without changing pads, and they're looking a bit beat up :?

Flutes are NOT supposed to be repadded every two months thank goodness.. Pads can last many years, and can be replaced individually if need be. Hopefully your pads do not need replacement, but very likely they may need to be adjusted. I know John Lagerquist does excellent flute repair work and lives in the DC area. His website has some information about his repair business, http://www.lagerquistfluteservice.com
