Lip plate questions

Post by jj »

Hi,
In my search for used beginner flutes for my daughters, I have found two with some imperfections to the lip plate.

One has a very small nick to the left of the hole and they are giving me a guarantee that it does not effect airflow. Do you think this is a problem? Even if it's not a problem with airflow, could it cause some lip irritation with time?

The other flute has a small dent on the lip plate to the left of the hole but doesn't look like it's effecting the hole. Would this make for any problems?

Thanks so much!!

I wouldn't think the dent should make for any trouble as long as it's small.

The nick could, though. If it's sharp at all, it could irritate or even cut the lip. You might want to steer clear of that one.

Best wishes,
