What a great site. I was searching for flute brand information and came across this site, so glad you are here.

I have not played since 1972, used to rotate between 1st to 2nd chair the 7 years I played in elementary and high school, we averaged 8 flutist each year. Did not play while in college and elected to sell my Bundy flute to a young girl that couldn't afford one and dreamed of playing the flute.

Now after 33 years I wanted to find out if I could still play, rented a standard Gemeinhardt. I purchased a beginners book and started playing. Much to my surprise I still have it in me. Found a local community band and started playing with them. The only problem I'm having is that the fingers don't move as fast as they use to!

I held a Yamaha and Jupiter yesterday at the music store, couldn't believe the feel of them and the beauty in the craftmanship.

I think I'd like to purchase an intermediate line, what are some of your recommendations?

I'm looking forward to reading the posting on this site and interacting with the group.
No sound better than what comes from the heart.

It is wonderful that you are playing again!!

Some flutes that you may want to try (these will vary depending on your budget)

Yamaha 381/361 (321 if you don't want open holes)

Emerson 6 or 8 (they both come with open and closed holes) - a great deal cheaper

The newer 70 series Gemeinhardts seem to be good flutes as well.

Any of these will probably get you where you want to go and last for quite some time. I have not had much experience with Jupiter, but I do have a friend who played on a 611 with great results until she upgraded for college.

Good luck and keep us all informed!
