Hi, To all
I am a new beginner at age 46, I have decided after
some careful thought to learn to read music and make a
determined commitment to learning the flute. Being an
adult college student I recognise the need for a proper tutor
I have, after a lot of serching been lucky to find a flute tutor to
teach me, but cant take me on until August.

I have purchased a Yamaha 211 flute outfit, can anyone advise
on a good beginners book to get me started which will not
cause any problems until I start with flute teacher in August.

Thank you

well,
I suggest Flute Student by Douglas Steensland and James D. Ployar.
It's the student instrument course by Belwin publications and of course, you would get volume one.

Good luck! :o

Also check out the Trevor Wye Beginner's book for the flute, available from Flute World (and probably www.Amazon.com). It begins with written text and pictures of good posture and such, and has a little diagram for each new fingering introduced. :D
