I was looking on ebay at some piccolos when I came across a black piccolo with gold plated keys. It was gorgeous! $8.71 and unknown shipping and handling.
I scrolled down a bit further and discovered a purple piccolo. Purple? As I continued scrolling down, I found a blue one, orange, green, red, and even pink. They all looked absolutely gorgeous! The only problem is, I don't know the brandname, Venus. Some of them were pretty cheap, ranging anywhere from $8.00 (more for the ones from China) up to $100-some. Not too bad. And I would play them, but for fun. For competition and performances, I have a black piccolo.
Would it be worth the investment to get a colored one? Even if it's not for performace use, I would still like it to be good quality.
What are your thoughts?
Colored Piccolos?

Colored instruments are the kind of instruments I hate the most! Colored instruments are great for show, but they would last about 3 days of playing. An $8.00 piccolo? Youve got to be kidding me, I dont know if cheap little recorders cost that little. Even for fun, you would be wasting your time. Its not worth investing. And be sure to stay away from Venus. Venus is a very bad brand to buy.

The cheap little recorder that I got was $3.50.
It was also converted from chinese money. And if it's shipping from China, the shipping and handling will pay for the low cost for the instrument.
Colored piccolos for show... I actually thought about using them and doing some sort of display deal with them. They are pretty after all.

i found out that colored flutes exist not that long ago. i thought it was so awesome! to have a flute in my favorite color. i mean, even just for a student model, would be awesome!! after all, the one i have now is only silver plated. so thats whatever-it-is plated. lol
