Cleaning Rod not in the middle of Embouchure Hole!
I was checking just yesterday because I have learned about having the line on the cleaning rod in the middle of the embouchure hold trick just two days ago. I checked and it wasn't in the middle! Will this affect my flute? I've always been told that I'm a little flat when I play my higher notes such as the B flat above the staff. How can I correct the cleaning rod not being in the middle of the embouchure hole thing?! Any feedback is greatly appreciated! Thanks!
You should be able to push the plug in the direction needed, and then tighten the cap accordingly.
Sometimes the plug may be stuck; on one flute, I had to find a socket that would fit over the bolt under the cap, and then, bracing the joint end against my wooden work bench to prevent damage to the joint carefully tap it down with a rod and light hammer. I then used a light coat of cork-grease on it to make sure it didn't happen again.
