Wood Picc
I just bought a Yamaha-62 piccolo (all wood), and I've noticed that there is like a white residue around the embouchure hole (like, where my lips sit when I play). Is there any way to get rid of this? I know you probably can't prevent it from happening, but can I clean it off?

You can clean it off, but it is purely cosmetic and will not affect the way the picc plays. Since it is near such an important place as the embouchure hole (which is the primary factor in tone production), it is best not to play with it too much. When it is time for regular maintainence, let the repair tech take care of it, but for now I suggest just leaving it.
