need to fix my flute

Cork is cheap, and while proper pad installation is a precise, time-consuming task, replacing or reseating just a couple shouldn't cost much.

Done properly, even by the most experienced techs, replacing a single pad can easily take half an hour to an hour. Now if you want 3 pads replaced, that's already 1 1/2 hours minimum, and that's a lot of time when you consider that a full COA can be accomplished in about 2 hours. You would expect higher prices for pad work than $25 for the pads, plus anything else that is done to the flute when a COA (consuming a comparable amount of time) can easily cost $150.

when he did pad work, I think he only checked to see if they were all sealing properly. However, the only other flute tech in the area (lexington) charges a fortune for anything at all, and then, his work isnt durable. so pretty much, I think they only replaced the headjoint cork, refitted the headjoint, and realigned the keys. but, what i know about them is that they are an authorized dealer/repair for this company. Well, I better get going (I have to teach at band camp in an hour.)

but over all, that wasnt a bad price for the work. this place does the repair work for dozens and dozens of schools across KY, and have done so for a LONG LONG LONG time.
