I've played those before and can't say I liked it very much. The were pretty much colorless, at least to my ears, and with my playing, but some people do like them quite a bit.

Fluteguy, I think this type of head can substantially reduce the typical air stream noise we do when playing. But my concern is if this lip plate reduces also the volume of the sound, due to less surface to transmit vibration...

I've tried one before and I actually sounded worse especially in the lower registers. It may have been the embouchure hole as well, but I was not happy with it. With that said, for my friend, the butterfly styled lip plate made her sound much clearer with sort of a saccarine sweet sound to it. I tend to play with a thick sound with a lot of edge to it, so it just may be my blowing technique doesn't good well with the headjoint.

Seems like they have a nice try out policy. I'd give it a shot and see if it works for you.

I have experienced that many times, this type of headjoint provides an instant gratification typically for players with a weaker sound to begin with, but students tend to outgrow them pretty quickly. I have seen this happen twice (one Goosman & one Nagahara), and it is quite an investment to use for only a couple of years.
