Saunas can be either, but I was more aware of the wet ones. Quoting from WikiPedia:
A suana "is a small room or house designed as a place to experience dry or wet heat sessions"
"Never give a flute player a screwdriver."

Original Finnish sauna is very hot and very humid while taking sauna bath, when room is on and one throws "löylyä kiukaalle", water on the hot stones. Usually sauna cabin is at room temperature or even a bit cold at these latitudes. (I guess nobody keeps hot water in bath tub all the time?)
I am a full time staff member at a church. One of the many perks is that I have access to the sanctuary for practice any time. When I am working on technique stuff, I prefer to practice in my office because it is much more confined.
There are underground tunnel networks in some universities (like Carleton Univ. in Ottawa). Under bridges, in Roman amphitheatres (when in Europe), metro stations, and, worst of all - practice rooms at the conservatory: which are not insulated from each other, so you can hear Tchaikovsky from next door while you're trying to do Telemann.
Otherwise, living room, or kitchen (bathroom is too small).
cflutist, your kitchen is absolutely huge (at least to me).
I practice in the bedroom or spare room. My husband plays guitar and he's been doing it in the living room for years, whereas I have only been playing flute for a few months, so I guess he gets to keep the living room. Plus that's where his amp is and when he's playing the electric guitar I like to get as far away as possible! Or I wait until he's done. I'm so easily distracted I don't know how I'll ever be able to play with any kind of group.
