There is no easy way around this. You have
to pull your lips back in a tight smile and provide enough air. These notes are
simply hard and they require practice.

yes, lots of air! that means you gotta
make your mouth do the O thing... drop your jaw and open your mouth as if
you're saying the letter 'O.'

i would openup your throat completely
(like the beginning of a yawn, or hot food in your mouth).. then don't blow
harder, and blow down into the hole...

Hi!! don't get disguraged if you can't
play these notes. My mom who has been playing for over 30 years is a great
player and see could barly play Fur Elise. But all you have to do is work on
playing those notes every day for 15-20 minutes just play the 3 notes like you
are playing a scale and go up and down. But before that just try each note about
25 times then move to the next note the go to the next and so on. Then repet at
the begining!!! I hope this helps[:)]

Haha...I agree with the post above. The very first note I learned was C1 (Middle C) and when I had my first flute lesson, my teacher stared at me like I was crazy, saying I should have started with G1 or something. -.-" It wasn't that hard to play middle C at first but now that I've learned up to E3, it's getting more difficult to focus the air and blow more carefully. =) D1 is still easy though...

Oh, wow! i know just what you mean! I started playing by myslef, and I started on Bb, too!
It was so hard to get a sound... actually, the first sound I got was just by pushing down on the trill keys!
Even though you said you already have it, I always get my low notes by pulling back my lower lip and taking full, glass breaths.
