2nd Register

Hi, I started learning the flute about two months ago and have
located a local flute teacher. I am however really having a problem with the
middle register. So far I have been able to produce a nice sound in the first
register. I do not seem to have any problem with the notes even as far as G2. A2
to C2 however I find quite difficult to produce without the note splitting. If I
approach them from the lower notes chromatically, it is not too much of a
problem. However if there is an interval in the music or if a piece begins with
these notes, I seem to have difficulty in producing them first time. Could you
perhaps suggest what I may be doing incorrectly, and how I can go about
correcting this problem. Thank you so much. SeanV[:)]

Dear Sean, Take a look at this forum "my high notes are so bad!" in
the "Flute Basics" category of "Fluteland.com Students - 'Ask a Teacher' ". It
explains a few things that might be valuable to you. In any case, two months of
playing is not that much. Just keep practicing and practice what you are having
touble with - intervals. Your lips need to start finding the focus of the sound
and what you are doing while practicing is training them to do it automatically.
With patience and time, you will find yourself playing these notes well and you
will be able to reach higher pitches.

Hi damjan, Thank you very much, the posting has proved very helpful.
I am doing a lot of experimentation at the moment, and am noticing a difference
