Brooke Method?

Post by sakuramimato »

Does anyone have reviews or ratings for this method book? I'm thinking of buying it since it looked like a good accumulative method book.

I worked out of Brooke method for a while.. It's not a very commonly used method book for some reason, but it's not bad. It's a fairly thick book, and it's a collection of short pieces, etudes, exercises, etc. I think it was written in the 1920's or 30's, but it's still applicable today. It's also not too expensive, it's certainly a good buy. While we are on the subject, I've been very impressed by how good the old French method books are (Altes and Taffanel & Gaubert.) Unfortunately, they are very expensive (in two hardbound volumes and published by Alphonse Leduc.) Most teachers have their own favorite method, etude, and exercise books--see what your teacher suggests.
