When I'm trying to play soft picc, I make my appature smaller and sustain but don't use super fast super hard air so that it doesn't blast. You need to sustain with your diaphragm, but slow the air down some. Just make sure you don't weaken it too much so it affects tone and intonation. It takes some practice, but you'll get it!
Band camp is temporary, but flute is forever. <3

To slow the air down while maintaining the same support from the diaphragm you would actually need to make the aperture larger, not smaller. Smaller apertures increase pressure, and thus air speed, while larger ones decrease pressure and allow the air to escape more slowly.flute.and.picc.are.love wrote:When I'm trying to play soft picc, I make my appature smaller and sustain but don't use super fast super hard air so that it doesn't blast.
