Hi everyone! I''ve decided that I''d like to buy some sheet
music from fluteworld.com and I was wondering if anyone knew wat grade would be
appropriate for me to get. The grading system is different from AMEB so I was
wondering if anyone had an idea. I''m grade 6 AMEB (Australian Music
Examination Board) so if anyone knows, PLEASE reply! Thanks
hmm flute world goes from grade 1-4 or 5 I believe, 1 being
easiest and 4 being most difficult. Level 3 is for advanced highschool/college
level, and things like the hindemith sonate and gabriel faure's fantasie for
flute are in this level ( both soooo fun to play, I love them! ) Take the pieces
you have worked on and look them up in flute world and see what level they are
and go by that
The more I work with music levels and pieces the more I dislike
the Fluteworld set up. Can't we come up with a system everyone uses? Can't be
that difficult. Also I don't find that Flute World is in agreement with other
systems that grade music as far what is more difficult. Plus 4 levels is just
too few to be descriptive. Would seem easy to come up with a 10 level system
where 0 can't play at all yet and 10 is professional with 3 levels of beginner,
intermediate and advanced to fill in the 9 levels inbetween. It also gets
confusing with the instruction books. Advanced instruction book doesn't really
produce an advanced player. Well not automatically.
I agree with using Fluteworld for comparison purposes when
buying music that you can't see. I take a piece of music that I already own and
find out what level they have it at and then I can find other music of
comparable difficulty or something that will be a challenge. This gives me an
idea of what music I can be looking for at other places then too Kim
