I have a Gemeinhardt piccolo, and am not sure how to tell what model it is? Can anyone out there help me?? It's either a 4PSH or a 4PMH.
Thanks!

The difference lies in what material the headjoint is made of. The PMH has a plated head, and the PSH has a silver head. If you look at the bit of the headjoint that slips into the body, you should be able to tell the difference. That part of the head will appear to be of a different metal (usually brassier looking) if it's plated, but if it's solid silver, it will have the same look as the rest of the head. This is because plating wears through over time, and if they plated that sectionof the head, after years of being assembled and disassembled, the plating would wear through enough to change the fit of the head in the body, which would affect the intrument's performance.
