Hello! My name is Sash, and I'm not a flute player, but as the title says, a guitarist. However, I really like how the flute sounds and the soft phrasing, and I'd like to incorporate that in my playing as much as I can on my path of building the guitar chops. So far I've got the Köhler 30 etudes, op. 75, vol. 1 and is OK, so far...But, what I'd like is to learn compositions with thoughtful arpeggios, approaching notes, interesting melodies and interesting rhythms, not just even 16th notes shredding runs. So, can you please recommend some pieces for flute, or even better, a book with flute compositions, that I can also track on YouTube or the Internet in general to hear how they sound?
Thanks!

You might try some song collection books such as those from Sir James Galway. If you are interested in flute phrasing, listen to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sw32AmkAa1E
That one is included in the Galway collection named Legends:

A Google search will reveal other similar books.
In a more classical style, consider the Rosewood book for Flute and Guitar:

Find yourself a good flutist and the two of you can play these together. Listening to a person play the flute live may be more beneficial because the flutist can play a phrase and you can try to mimic it. Repeat as needed...
