Hello!
I've been playing the flute for seven years, and I never had any problems with my hands until I got a new Flute.
I've been playing on this one for just over a year, and for months I had no troubles. Over the past few months, however I've started to have problems with my hands. At first I had problems with my ring finger and pinky locking up, so I put mole foam on my flute where my right thumb holds it, to expand my grip. That worked brilliantly, and i had no problems for several months until my thumb started hurting. It was a sharp pain that started in the muscle and worked into my wrist, so I took off the mole foam.
That was a few days ago. Now there's an even sharper pain in the tendons/bones of my right index finger. Nothing else hurts, but that pain is so bad that I have to stop playing until it goes away.
Is there something I can change about my hand position to make this stop?

Have you checked with your doctor to see if there is a physical problem that needs to be addressed?

This pain might be due to nervous system. You must consult a professional for addressing these problem and for its treatment. My cousin had similar problems and he visited one of local chiropractors and got good results.
