These are my personal opinions.

If you are Christian, today is a holy day to be spent reflecting on the coming of our Lord. I don't practise on holy days (including Sundays). However, I will play sometimes. Practising is work, something that is not proper, IMO, if recognising a holy day. But playing something beautiful is a terrific way to express your thanks to God for all the many gifts we receive from Him, beginning this day with the Nativity of Our Lord.

So -- I wouldn't practise. But find the most beautiful thing that you enjoy playing and play that. Be grateful for the ability to take notes on a page and convert them to something magical.

Merry Yuil! And an early Happy Hogmanay to all my fluteland friends :-)

See, I too try not to work on "holy" days, but I personally don't consider practising to be "work." I thoroughly enjoy practising, and if I miss even a single day [much less several days in a row like I did this past week because I was out of town], I feel off balance.

So, I wont do much practising today in honor of today's significance in my personal belief system, but I will practice a little if I feel that I want to. And besides... I got a lot of sheet music for Christmas and I can't WAIT to dive in. :D

Merry Christmas!
