Is there anyone who recommends any particular contrasting pieces for a college audition that are not very common but would still be effective?
Thanks

Hmm.... I personally am a fan of the Hindemith Sonata, Telemann's 2nd Fantasie, Mozart G major [yes it is common, but everyone has to do it at some time or another], and anything out of the Flute Music by French Composers book. But... those are just pieces I named off of the top of my head, so you may not want to do those.
Just choose 2 or three pieces from different eras that you like. Avoid anything too contemporary. An audition where you honk around on your flute and make a bunch of noise isn't impressive at all.
