Hi (newbie and all)
I last played the flute when I was in school which was in 2001, now I've been offered the chance to buy a Boosey & Hawks emperor flute for £200. I know its will be in good condition, as she is a music teacher and instrument maker herself. I'm going to be viewing the flute on monday.
Seeing as I haven't played in such a long time I'm unsure where to start, I will get a few lessons with my local music shop just to get into the swing of things.
I've been playing recorder (descant and alto) in the meantime so my fingering shouldn't be that bad.
Anyone got any tips for an adult returner learner.

You should probably (re)begin from the very basics, i.e., long tone exercises, scales, etc.
Though it's very important that your flute is really in good condition. You would not want to blame yourself for a bad playing that could have been caused by a bad instrument.
Ask someone experienced to play the flute you're willing to buy. This way you avoid some big trouble in the future.
