Live flute music in Glasgow

Post by wom »

Yesterday I attended a live music recital at
Glasgow University, and had the joy of listening to Fiona Paterson (a Glasgow
University student) play "La Flute du Pan" (Mouquet) and Prokofiev''s "Sonata
No.2 op94". As someone who has recently returned to flute playing after a long
absence, this was a wonderful opportunity to hear the flute as it is meant to be
played. The music was truly inspirational and deeply evocative, especially the
Mouquet piece - it evoked images of birds soaring into the heavens above a
tranquil and beautiful landscape. It also gave me much inspiration for my own
playing. And because I watched the flautist from very close proximity )I made
sure I was in the front row), I was able to observe her technique very carefully
and learned a great deal. As a result, I can see and hear differences in my own
playing today. If you have the chance to attend any live recitals, do go - there
is so much to be learned and its a thrilling experience. Will
