New to the Flute Forum!--and Q about back pain...

Hello,

My name is Melanie, I am a Music Education Major at the University of Utah. This is my second year at the U (but my first as a Music Ed student). I grew up here in Utah, and before I started going to the U I joined the Army Band for 6 years. I was active duty, stationed in Camp Zama, Japan and Fort Gordon, GA. I am married and have an almost 4 year old son.

I have a question...

I often get severe pain in my left side upper back/shoulder area from playing the flute....I've had it for years. I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if there's anything you can do about it? Maybe it's my posture...I am not sure. Any input would be great.
