---------------- On 3/21/2004 10:54:53 PM Also, does
anyone know any good way of getting around Vesuvius, the furious part?
----------------
Try checking out [http://www.jwpepper.com] if they have
the a separate score for flute. Also, I forgot who the composer of Vesuvius is
since I haven't heard the song nor have I read the music, but my brother played
it in high school a couple of years back and never got around to letting me see
the music.
Thanks~

If you have not had this problem up until now then it is possible
that you have some keys that are not sealing correctly. I would have someone
else try your flute to see if they have the problem with the airy sound and if
they do then I would take the flute into a tech to have it checked out. Kim

The flute itself can force a windy tone on the player if it is
poor mechanical repair, but a clear tone can be produced on any mechanically
sound flute. Vesuvius is by Frank Tichelli for reference, but I don't remember
where the "furious" part is. Maybe near the end of the piece with the fast scale
runs? A good way of getting good at fast scale runs would be to practice scales
carefully , smoothly, and with a metronome. I also reccomend scale exercises
like T&G or Trevor Wye's books. [:)] -Bradford
