What are common pre-baroque features?

I'm due to do my ABRSM grade 8 soon and have been working through an aural workbook. (That section of the exam didn't go too well during my grade 7!) The problem is its suddenly started talking about recognising pre baroque music and i've no idea what that is like! What are the common features? (rhythm, melody, dynamics, articulation, harmony, texure, form, etc?) I struggle a lot with the singing and recognising chords so it would be good to be able to do this section. Thanks a lot
