Do potential new members have to enter a code when they sign up in order to avoid spam(mers) and how effective is this method?
We seem to be the target of spammers particularly on the weekend (even the same message several times in the same thread)... :(

Hi Bo,

I think we have an open enrollment
Maybe the next level of security would be requiring approval of new members initial posts

Yeah, I guess we made some improvements but its still too much spam

Some of these "banned" people can be dangerous. A piano board has been hacked three times in a row (with all sorts of weird things, from viruses to really weird stuff happening on the board), and the culprit was probably either a spammer who has been banned or a regular member who has been banned. Why should we otherwise be under attack?
We always have to watch out!
