Consignment

Post by burmura »

Would anyone know the best flute company to work with for consignment?
I am considering selling my flute that I hardly use anymore, and have already contacted a few companies in regards to what they can offer me and their services. So far, I've contacted the following:

1) Carolyn Nussbaum
2) The Flute Center of New York
3) JL Smith Co.
4) Fluteworld.com

Of the ones I've contacted, the best candidates right now based on what they had to say is The Flute Center of New York and JL Smith Co.
I'm not in the "biggest" rush to sell my flute, but at the same time, I've never had my flute on consignment before, and don't know the average turnaround rate of getting your flute sold. Also, when looking at a company's list of used instruments on their website, some companies have a long list of used instruments, while others don't have a lot. Does "more" necessarily mean "bad" in this situation, insinuating that they are not selling their used instruments as fast as other companies? Are there other or better companies anyone may suggest I look into?

I've already posted my flute for sale on usedflutes.com and on my local craigslist to widen my range.

Any insight about flute consignment would be most helpful. Thank you in advance!
