I just got a tuner the other day and went through the
scale from C1 (flute) to A3 (my current top note[:((] ). The flute was pretty
good through most of the range until E3 to A3 when it tended to be sharp. How
can you correct for small scale sharpness or flatness? I made some correction by
moving the headjoint further into the body.

You should tune to the A in the middle register. Most
of the notes on the flute are slightly out of tune so you need to make
adjustments. Where you adjust is with your lips, not by moving the headjoint or
rolling the flute. If it is sharp, blow a bit more into the flute and if it is
flat blow a bit higher on the headjoint wall. You always have to provide
sufficient air support to sustain the notes that like to go flat. Besides your
lips, there are alternate fingerings you can use for different notes, but there
is quite a few. You can actually find alternate fingerings fingering charts just
for that purpose.

Thanks Damjan I will give that a try. I was happy just
to get the notes, now I have to learn to keep then "in tune" --this is getting
complicated. I guess I will have to accept that I have not "learned" the flute
in 3 months--[:)]

I don't think this will help but,I point my airstream
up when I play p. and higher notes, so I don't go flat. Leanne
