Articulation.

Post by FreeTheMilks »

Undergrad sophomore in performance here, and I'm still having serious articulation trouble. Very
obvious when it comes to tonguing required scale exercises for jury. In fact, I think my articulation
is several times worse than it was in high school.

I start the met at 100 and gradually speed it up as I play ascending and descending scales double tongue,
but for some reason... it is obvious my fingers and my tongue never line up. I can slur just fine,
I'm just not sure why it sounds like my tongue is getting in the way of everything.

I use the common advice as keeping a steady, stream of air and try very hard to keep tempo - but
it sounds like crap. Seriously. It's embarrassing when my musicality is severely beaten by this
horrible technical problem.

Any tips? I'm so frustrated!

It could be happening that your flute is the problem. Is it in good condition, properly revised and repaired?
