National High School Flute Competition

Post by sidekicker »

Hello gang --

I'm late putting this out, but wanted to again remind all you High School flutists of the Donna Marie Haire Young Artist Competition. The deadline for entries is today. So if you have not entered this year yet, you have a few hours :-). If not, please consider competing next year. All the info can be found at http://www.texasflutesociety.org/

This competition is named for my late mother, and carries a $1,000.00 first prize. Our first competition was last year and we drew fantastic finalists from as far away as NYC. Having watched the finals myself, I was truly amazed at the level of talent these young musicians brought with them. It literally brought tears to my eyes to hear young players tackle the Lieberman Sonata (successfully!) and other war horses of the repertoire. Our family is so proud to sponsor such an event!
