This isn't me, but I am impressed by this adorable 6 year playing her flute. Tone quality is better than some adults I've heard!

Here's another one I like (I don't have any videos of me...just MP3s), but maybe I'll record me whenever my freaking Orpheus gets in.

I think jazzflautist may be a user on here. He's got a very interesting tone quality:

So where's the video of *YOU*?

Aww... so cute! However, I dont really like the guy's vid. It has been sound enhanced. He does have an interesting tone though, and that isnt something that you can tamper with though. Nice try with the flutter tongueing, but he let his sound die, and you could only hear his tongue. But..... that might just be a feature of the piece.......

Very good finds.

Yeah, I sorta get the feeling that without the effect it would loose a lot of its charm, but kind of a neat idea.

great video

He may be sound enhanced but he has great tone and expression- he has several videos and in all of them he plays really well. I like his set up for amping the sound- looks like something that would easy to put together.

This one isn't bad (highschool competition?). They do a good job with group phrasing and they stay in tune well...I'd like to hear more edge to the lower registers but that's just my opinion. Does anyone know the piece they are playing?

This one is really cool too. The guy does a bach duet with himself split screen. Nice dark sound:

That duet was really cool. I wish I could do that ( I have the right software, but no microphone.......). He does have a good tone. It reminds me of one of my fellow flute majors. Her tone is a lot like this guy's but even darker. Her tone is like chocolate (or whatever your favorite flavor is) for the ears..... Ahhh..... I wish I could sound like her.

although, we both are jealous of each other. I like her tone and vibrato, and she likes my technique and tone. Oh well, I guess we will always be that way...... wanting what we cant have.

We could somehow frankenstein the two of you and then it would be the perfect flautist...LOL

Everyone's got the things that they're good at, ya know. And even if you happen to envy a particular quality, someone else might hate it. For instance, my friend has the most amazing edge to her sound but her flute teacher in college has been trying to "round" it out my which I find mildly abhorrent, but then again her teacher doesn't find the edge desireablable at all.

Sounds like your friend has an amazing tone. I just love the darker fatter sounds with a lot of edge to it. I've never really had pristine tone quality, but my fingering technique is pretty good.

That is neat and he also does duets in other videos. He even has a very serious looking music stand- I think he has been playing for more than a coupld of years!!!

I actually believe that someone hand carved that for him and gave it to him as a gift. It seems to me that I remember reading a post about/looking at pictures of that music stand when he first got it. He's a member of the Galway Flute Chat, and if I remember correctly has not been playing for any great number of years. I agree, though that it's a fantastic little duet. He recently made one where Sir James played one part, and he played the other, combining them in a similar manner to this one. It was literally created from opposite sides of the globe. Rather a neat use of technology, I think.

Yes, I found another video of his where he talks about his music room and his flute collection. The music stand was carved by his father. He's got quite a nice tone, I must say.
