How long do you practice each day? Do you work on
any specific skills or have a specific practice routine ? Kim

Ok to answer my own question.... I try to practice
about 1/2 hr a day..sometimes I don't get that that much but some days I will
get more if I can get my daughter to play some simple duets with me LOL I
generally work out of my daughters old beginner book and her Trevor Wye tone
book. My daughter on the other hand generally practices about 2 hours a day. She
has a regualar routine that she will follow so that everyday she does scale
work, harmonics, lesson for her private teacher after that she works on solos
and duets that she is polishing. Kim

I don't know how much practice I do per day, I've
never timed it. I practice double-tonguing starting on both ta and ka doing
scales, triple-tonguing on arpeggios, moving between octaves on the same note
going up and down, long notes: loud in the lower register, loud and quiet in
higher, and starting low notes. Oh, and double-tongued chromatics. And
occasionally flutter-tonguing.

I practice about 30 minutes-1 1/2 hour a day it
just depends on how busy I am that day. And how much Homework I have. I do
diffrent things out of my book and I also do scales and sheet music and
tounging. I'm kinda in a hurry. As you can see. I also just work on stuff that
I need to improve on so I can get better everyday. [:)] Ohh and I also do band
monday-friday for about 1 hour. So by the end of the day I play anywear from 1
1/2 - 2 1/2 hours aday depending if I have lots of homework [;)]

I practice between one and a half to two hours a
day, plus anytime I get to practice at school, either lessons or lunch breaks. I
practice pieces, tone, scales, double and triple tonguing, vibrato (even though
most of my pieces are already played with vibrato) I try cover every topic
throughout each week. Also to fluteluversmom, I don't wanna sound rude but just
as a little fact for u, I'm reading Sir Jame's autobiography and he has used
flautist throughout the book, and not flutist once, lol.

I think this is a good thing to do with all flute
skills. My daughter also plays with vibrato but she still practices pieces using
it so that she can practice controlling the speed and volume. I on the other
hand can't for the life of me learn how to use it LOL Kim [quote]

1-1 1/2 hour in 2-4 different times. Tone
work(Moyse or Wye), Scales Sometimes long count ususally concert or faster
speed, Rotate between T&G, Maquarre and Anderson etudes depending on time an if
any pieces need attention. Then some difficult piece(s) to work on. Finally some
easy stuff to fool around with.

Sorry but I have to say this. I think it's really
cool that you and your daughter are learning the flute and playing the flute
together. I think it's really neat that you can play duets and songs together.
Sorry but I just think that it's really wonderful.

DancingFlutist~ Thank you so much. It is a lot of
fun playing with my daughter. She is a big help to me also because it has been
so long since I have played and I am still relearning some skills. We spend time
laughing while we are playing and I think it has brought us closer together as
mom and daughter. Kim
