im an alternative!!! im so disappointed, but at least i
am one, there are about 27 people that didn't make it at all. my band director
says that he might add more flutes, if he does, then im in.. [:((]

Hi~ I am sorry that you didn't get in. Being an
alternate is an accomplishment since so many didn't even get that. I am sure
that you are quite disappointed about not getting in but try to keep your chin
up and keep practing. Since I am a mom I am quite a bit older than most people
posting here but I remember a saying that says something like "If someone closes
a door....just open a window". It could be that being an alternate is your
window or it could just be that another postion or audition is the one that was
meant for you. Try to use this disappointment as a tool to grow and learn
something new. I hope something that I have said here has helped..it is so hard
to try and make someone feel better when you are trying to do it with written
words. Kim

Congrats on making alternate. Sounds like you must be
pretty good to beat out so many players. Feel good about yourself for putting in
all that hard work and giving your best effort. So many people play the flute
and so few spots are available.
