Flute Tattoo

Post by MissyHPhoenix »

I got a wild hair earlier this year and went out and got a flute tattoo to permanently show my love of this instrument. I now have a dragon sitting on my left shoulder, holding a silver flute with music notes blowing out and down my arm all the way to my wrist. (the music is an excerpt from Mozart's "Magic Flute"!!) I loved it so much that I went back after a month and got another one done, this time on my right side over a scar I have -- this one is another dragon holding my alto flute, the music blowing out and over my right shoulder. This music is from my favorite Bach fugue piece that I play on my alto.

Soooo ....I had to share this with all of my flute loving friends here! Yea, yea, I know it's pretty eccentric to get dragons playing flutes tattooed on your body .... but then, I'm pretty eccentric all around! Does anybody else have anything like this? Or am I the only crazy one here?

I am stuck somewhere between "HOLLY CRAP" and "SOUNDS SXY".

I have always wanted a tattoo to reflect my love for music. Lately I've been wanting a treble clef tattoo; my Dad said he would take me if I wanted one. I want the tattoo on my wrist, but I'm afraid it would hurt. Oh well, maybe I'll get me tattoo in a few years. :) Your tattoos sound awesome; I'd say it took awhile to have that done.

Anyway, congrats on the tattoos and I think that that is really cool.

Think I will wait a few years for my tattoo. My Mom is not crazy at all about the idea of it.

 Love your response, Phineas!!! I think a lot of people think that when they see them .....

Lula, I think that tattoo on your wrist would look super. I won't lie, they do hurt a little bit, but it's really not that bad. It also depends on where you get them put -- a bony spot, like on your foot, hurts a whole lot more than a more fleshy spot, like on the arm. Mine were pretty big, so it took about 4 to 5 hours for each one, but smaller ones take no time at all and you don't really notice the pain because it goes so fast. Your body also gets an adrenaline rush and the pain is almost unnoticeable. Altho, everyone has a different level of pain tolerance and what is ok to one person is horrible to another. My advice -- if you want a tattoo, get a small one first to see if you can handle it. Be warned, tho -- they are VERY addictive! I started wanting just one and now I have 10!!!

I would like to have a treble clef on my left wrist and an upside down treble clef and bass clef making a heart on my right wrist. I think tattoos are cool if you have a good reason to get one, otherwise they are somewhat pointless. My Dad thinks that the treble and bass clef tattoo is awesome, so that is something to think on. Pain isn't really an issue for me so I'd say I could probably handle it. Anyway your tattoos sound really neat and I think you had a great reason to get them.

Not going to happen with me. All of my tats are very tasteful and reflect my love of beautiful art. That's one word of caution I would give -- be very sure of what you are getting done, because it is going to be there for a long time.

Oh, and Lula, thanks for the nice words. I think your idea of the treble and bass clef tat sounds very neat. I think it would be one you'd be proud of. The wrist isn't very painful, I'm sure you would do fine! Good luck if you get it!

Thanks! Always been a fan of tattoos and people that have them are even cooler. Every tattoo has a story behind it and I like stories. lol

Hoping I can get my tattoo sometime soon. The only part I'm worried about is when they would go over that bone on the inside of my wrist. My dad said it probably wouldn't hurt too bad and it wouldn't take them that long to get it done.

Maybe I'll get my tattoo!

I have a tattoo on the top of my right wrist, and I barely felt it. My daughter has one on the inside of each wrist, and she said neither one of them hurt. Hope it is the same for you, if you do get it!! :D
