that is such a contra physiological phenomenon - that human beings are actually able to achieve it is a marvel :shock :D
But such a worthwhile technique that allows one to play just about anything. Galway has a YouTube segment on it as well

To learn circular breathing, start with a mouthful of water, and slowly squirt the water in a smooth fine stream, breathe in and out through your nose and continue the water stream, once you have this down pat, you learn to balance squeezing air out from your mouth reservoir and refill your lungs through your nose.

It sounds simple but takes a while to achieve

Should this be done while only using the headjoint lest the corks, pads, skins, etc become waterlogged?

Umm, without the flute.

Its learning to train your mouth and air passages to work around each other.

Yeah, was just making some of my patent doofus humor there, sorry!

But hey, that "steady-stream" approach might work better for trumpet players, I'm thinking. Although, I managed to get some staccato notes out puffing like a goldfish all the while managing a steady inhalation just now here a moment ago; seems slur work will have to be done using Ye Olde Huff & Puff Blow Thy House Down!

Sounds like a long exercise... and I suffer from sinus issues as well :( Still, I reckon it looks worthwhile enough to spend some time on...
