How the #*$& do you play this note

Post by Adam08 »

I just received my solo for solo contest at school today.

It has a Bb below the staff. How would I play that? I doubt even if I knew the fingering I could play it. Thats pretty low.

Amazingly enough this note is possible to play. Though I'm not sure what kind of flute you have (B or C foot joint?) If you have a C there is no way to play it. If you have a B then you have to purchase an extension for about 75 dollars to play that note. I would highly reccoment bringing it up an octave. The note is next to impossible. Nor will it ever be close to in tune. So in simplest terms, bring it up an octave.

I guess I cant play that note. I was looking at it and its in small notes (whatever you call that) when it does it (its the intro) so its optional.

Hi Adam,

The small notes in the intro would probably be a "cue", which means they're actually played by your accompanist (pianist/band/orchestra/wahtever). They're just there as a guide, you don't have to play them.

Good luck with your competition!

 Never knew you can get a gadget for a low Bb. Must invest in that. Where does it go? parallel to the high C gadget?

wait are you sure you're even supposed to play it? would it be a piano accompaniment?

anyways don't bother playing that. just go straight to the solo piece.
