Cflutist's kitchen is bigger than my living-room.
I built a 16' kayak one time in it and had to put it diagonally, where I had to squeeze past one corner to get from the bedrooms to the kitchen.
The two bedrooms in my house have windows that are very close to my neighbor's bedroom windows, so I use the living-room to play. There is quite a distance, and across the street, from the living-room window, to the nearest neighbor in that direction.
When I had a store, a while back now, it had a rather large office that was ideal for practicing in. The person who worked in my store had her own punk rock band and they used that same room to practice in some times. My store was bigger than it needed to be to hold my merchandise, so I built a partition across the middle and built a regular stage in the back half, with enough room left over for a decent sized mosh pit. The back door opening into the alley, which worked as the "club" entrance when we had a show. The band had a devoted following so there was never a shortage of audience. I auditioned for my employee once, and she was decidedly unimpressed, or maybe just saw the incongruity between the genre.
Edit to add info on that band, in case anyone was curious:
