If it's an Armstrong, it's most likely built decently well (i.e. it's pretty sturdy and shouldn't just fall apart on you). However, I'm not familiar with this particular model. If it's too old, the scale may be a little funky (things have changed a lot in flute making over the years), and there's no way to be sure if it will be a good match for you anyway. Make sure when you get it to have it checked over by a tech, as there's a good chance it will need some setup if it's new, or some maintainance if it's used.

I can testify that they are very sturdy. I currently play on one, and I love it dearly (even though I need to upgrade, it is still a nice flute, but I have outgrown it). So, yeah.... It wont fall apart on you. I rarely need to get mine adjusted, and it plays well.

I am not familiar with this model, however, from the information I have gleaned from various expieriances with this company here is my best guess.... Because of the model number, I would assume that it has a high silver content (head body and foot, and silver plated keys). this is based off of how the company labels it's models. The lower the model number, the less silver there is in the construction of the instrument. The model 303 (the one I have) has a sterling silver headjoint. I would assume (if it adds things to the model number like other companies) that the E stands for the split e mech. But, I am not sure on this. This is just my best guess.

But, assuming that it is indeed the Armstrong company I am thinking of (althought the only armstong flute co. that I know of is in indiana or illinois), and that it is in good condition, you have a fairly good flute that will last you many years. I hope you make wonderful memories with it. :D
