My cousin wants me to play for his wedding. They
suggested Ave Maria, but I''ve never heard it. I''ve been playing for 13
years now, but haven''t competed or played publicly for a year. Can I handle
Ave or shoudl I look for something easier?

Ave Maria - how difficult?
Technically, it shouldn't be a problem (I am assuming
it is Bach's Ave Maria), but you have to project a beautiful and solemn tone.
You should listen to a recording of it somewhere on the net. Best of luck!

Ave Maria - how difficult?
Thanks for the input. Does anyone have any other
suggestions for flute solos good for a wedding? I need something I can take an
excerpt from easily and they want classical. Thanks again!

Ave Maria - how difficult?
pachbel's (sp?) canon in D is a pretty standard
wedding song.
wedding song.
Ave Maria - how difficult?
I played Ave Maria, (a different version than Bach's)
and Canon in D for a wedding this past summer. Ave is not that difficult
technically, however, intonation would be high on the priority list. Canon in D
is very beautiful and is a little more technical, however, I have a wonderful
pianist and she helps me a lot. I couldn't do it without her. I will be playing
a flute part to a song our church choir is singing for church tomorrow. It is
called What a Friend. It is very beautiful, I just hope my playing is up to par
and my nerves don't take over. Good luck and have fun!!

Ave Maria - how difficult?
I've got a very good copy of Ave Maria, but
the major problem I face is tone quality. The notes are all in the 3rd octave
and sound strained. Get the sheet music book "Sacred Solos: Vol. I" with the
accompanyment for a really good arrangment if Ave Maria. Pachelbel's Cannon and
Meditation from Thai is also included along with a few, so it's worth the
money.
