I also teach at band camps over the summer. One of the best things that I can tell you, are that you need to stick with this. Stick with one director for a while [if possible] and get your name out to various schools. So, with time, you may end up finding a well paid position in this field during the marching season.
This past summer I worked at a high school, and I got paid rather nicely [roughly $20-25 an hour] which I dont think is shabby at all [particularly for someone still in college]. So, I am trying to stay in contact with this director, because he A: pays well over the summer, and B: has some absolutely GREAT connections. Thus, it is possible that I might meet someone through him, and eventually get a job that I would be uncapable of getting without knowing him.
So I would stick around the best connected people I could [and best paying]. A good impression goes a long way.

As am I, I want to be a director, too. Like what fluteguy18 had said, stick with a band director to help get your name out. But also once an opening is available dont be too shallow if it isnt a 4a or 5a school district. Its ok to start with a smaller district. That way you can gain the experience and then work your way up to however high of level you want to teach.
