Good Daily Warmup

Post by cubmia »

Curious to see what kind of warmups are good for daily use. New member and adult returning to flute after 20 year hiatus. I tend to play through whatever scale Im using that week in different variations. Also several exersices for about half an hour before I start with whatever piece Im working on

Well, for me, I start with scales, appreggios, and long tones...

Try the Trevor Wye books (Tone Practice Book, Complete Daily Exercises), and older standards such as Moyse and Maquarre. A bit of attention each day to each element of technique--tone, intonation, breathing, fingers, ...) will get you back in shape pretty soon!

Yeah, the tone book really helps as well for me.

IMHO, Taffanel E.J.4 scales are the best. They go through all the keys, and you can do it in many different articulations.

Yeah, thanks, forgot (?!?) those. The #1 and #2 exercises are good, too.
