I have been told by more than one source that
Gemeinhardt, Jupiter, Selmer, Emerson, Armstrong and several other flute
manufacturers with Elkhardt Indiana connections are now owned by the same
holding company and have very little difference in quality at this point. Can
anyone else confirm?

Wow. I haven't heard anything about that so it will be
interesting to find out. When I was trying flutes when I was upgrading not too
long ago I tried 2 of the mentioned brands, gemeinhardt and jupiter, and found
differences in them. I personally prefered the jupiter over the gemeinhardt but
didnt purchase either. Hope to hear about it soon!

I have a Armstrong at this point in time and I'm very
pleased with it. It plays beautifuly and works great.. Before I got my Armstrong
I had tryed a Jupiter and a Gemeinhardt and I found that the Armstrong had a
smoother more beautifuk sound then the others -Flute Friend[;)]
