Where to try out/buy a flute?
I want to upgrade to a professional flute soon (my budget is about $2k). I've been doing a lot of reading about different brands and specs, etc., but most people recommend trying out different flutes before purchasing. The problem is, I don't know of any stores in the Orlando area that specialize in professional flutes, so where could I try them out at?

Definitely keep your current flute and keep it in working order. I have a handmade Muramatsu, but I also have an Armstrong Model 80 as a backup. You never know when you might need it (in case your main flute is in the shop for maintenance or repairs).
