Get rid of the chapstick. Get a different lipbalm that is for dry lips. I personally go between Burt's Bees, and Blistex [formulated/medicated for dry lips/weather] depending on the situation. Just make sure you get something that goes on smoothly [chapstick is really thick and waxy], and that it is formulated for dry weather.
Drink a lot of water.
Use lipbalm anytime your lips start to feel dry.
Don't lick your lips. Just don't do it. Licking them will make the problem worse.

i didnt mean chapstick as in the brand, just more a general term. but, I do use (at night, because its so thick and gooey) either Blistex 'Lip Medex', or Polysporin Daily lip care (i think its fairly new)...
but i just dont know what to use during the day. I have blistex in the green one too... im pretty sure thats a lip balm. is that good to use? should i use something while playing to keep from licking?

I know of an awesome product!
What really helps more than anything I have tried is a medicated lip balm called Herpecin L. I contains L-Lysine and other lip-soothing ingredients. I started using it because it stops the progression of developing cold sores and I found that it also really soothes chapped and dry lips better than most products. I found it at CVS. Probably other pharmacies sell it as well.
